Fixing Shattered Glass
Bad times can really wear down a person and make them feel unwanted and unloved. It can be difficult to recover from a time like that. However, with good friends we can always fix the glass that has been shattered from our past. This piece was written for Hannah Palmquist and is a testament to how much I love her. The piece has two main sections. The beginning of the piece has a somber tone while the second section progressively translates to a much brighter and triumphant tone. The primary chord progression is i-VI7-III-iv and when the triumphant moment starts overtaking the somber sad tone, the left hand plays a low note that drones underneath the right hand playing in the upper register. The iv chord is then substituted with a IV chord which completely changes the tone of the piece.
