This is my submission to the 2022 Soundole Chill Out Cover Competition. I had a difficult time deciding what piece to arrange. It was a toss up between Zelda or Pokémon. As you can tell, Pokémon ended up coming out on top. Pokémon Crystal was the first Pokémon game I ever played and because of that it holds a very special and nostalgic place in my heart. The Lake of Rage theme is one of the most nostalgic pieces of video game music for me. I wanted to capture that feeling of adventure while also making it really peaceful and hopefully adding to its nostalgic value!
This arrangement starts out a little brighter and more adventure driven but the second half gets very toned down and meditative by using the back ends of the mallets to achieve different sounds out of the mallet percussion.
